Try Your Luck
By Dana Byerly, Hello Race Fans Co-founder
Luck is in the air these day with the upcoming sneak peak at HBO’s Luck and here’s a great opportunity to try yours: this weekend is the 13th annual Brisnet.com Handicapping Challenge! The contest is open to Brisnet members (registration is free) and there are prizes for the top 15 performers (including a $1,000 cash prize for the winner and a seat to the NHC for the top performing Tour member). But wait, there’s more…
Brisnet.com will also offer a $100 cash prize to the Hello Race Fans contestant with the top score regardless of finish!
Head over to Brisnet for more details on the challenge, but to make yourself eligible for the special Hello Race Fans prize, leave a comment on this post with your first name, last initial, and location. Of course, feel free to share some handicapping advice as well! Free PPs will be provided for the challenge.
HBO’s hotly anticipated new series, Luck, will air a sneak peak at the first full episode this Sunday on HBO right after Boardwalk Empire.
At Raceday 360 our Eliza McGraw took a historical look at the role of perceived luck in her Outrider column on Track Superstitions:
Bad luck: black cat, cross-eyed man. Good luck: cross-eyed women, piebald horses, strange dogs following you, giving money to a blind beggar, a jockey asking to have a girth tightened, and dreaming of a horse. You shouldn’t, however, bet on the dreamed-of horse the first time he runs. If you wait until his second race, he will win.
Rapid Redux will try his luck again this coming Tuesday in Laurel’s sixth race when he goes for his 21st consecutive win. Should he win, he will have tied the great Citation for consecutive wins in a season with 19.
May a strange dog follow you (and Rapid Redux)… good luck!
