Breeders’ Cup Redux
By Dana Byerly, Hello Race Fans Co-founder

As you probably know by now, the 2011 Breeders’ Cup is next weekend. Which means a couple of things: 1) next week will be crazy with a flurry of updates and 2) with 15 races spread over two days, this weekend might be a good time to get a head start! The pre-entries were announced on Wednesday (pdf) and PPs of pre-entries are now available:

Brisnet (purchase)
Daily Racing Form (purchase)
Equibase (free)

Watching replays is a great way to get up to speed with all the contenders. Start with our primer on watching replays and then head over the Breeders’ Cup 2011 Challenge Race play list.

DRF’s Clocker Report will also be in full swing over the weekend through the beginning of the week. This will give you a lot of insight beyond the timings. Grade One Racing also has fantastic clocker insights, but is not free. They will, however, share some insight at @Grade1Racing.

On Monday the post positions for both race days will be drawn and then the fun will really begin. On Tuesday we’ll publish a Cheat Sheet for the Ladies Classic and Classic and bring you our picks at the end of the week. We’ll also be doing a fun Head to Head Challenge with our friends at WirePlayers!

You can keep up with all the Breeders’ Cup commentary at Raceday 360 Wire.

Yesterday Rapid Redux joined Zenyatta and Pepper’s Pride as he won his 19th consecutive race. Pepper’s Pride retired undefeated while Zenyatta suffered her only defeat in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Classic (replay). No doubt he’ll get a chance to try to break the record as it was also announced this week that he was nominated for this year’s Claiming Crown on December 3 at Fair Grounds. Whats more, there’s a chance he might even run a few more times before then!
