Presque Isle Downs was the stage for two sprinters regaining their winning form. Gayego won the Presque Isle Mile in record time awhile Informed Decision unleashed a wide and powerful run to win the Presque Isle Down Masters. Another fierce Filly & Mare sprinter, Secret Gyspy, brought her win streak to three and is on her way to the Breeders’ Cup with a win in the Endine Stakes at Delaware Park.
On the turf, Al Khali overcame traffic trouble to get up for a win the Bowling Green Handicap on opening day at Belmont Park. At Kentucky Downs, 18-1 shot Rezif ruined the attempt of Cloudy’s Knight to win the Kentucky Cup Turf twice in a row. At Arlington Park, Wonderlandbynight made it perfect four for four in the Arlington-Washington Lassie while Major Gains broke his maiden in the Arlington-Washington Futurity. And earlier in the week JP’s Gusto made it four in a row with an emphatic win in the Del Mar Futurity on closing day of the Del Mar meet.
This week at HRF we continue Figs Gone Wild Month with a group discussion about Beyer Speed Figures. Our panelists discuss their own uses of Beyer Speed Figures, including the pros and cons of different approaches. This week Ten Things You Should Know About will take a break, but will be back the following week!
Oddly, there were no replays from any of the last weekend’s races on YouTube with the exception of the Del Mar Futurity. So, in honor of Keeneland’s Yearling Sale, which kicked off last night, we’re including videos the yearling auctions of some today’s best performers, including Lookin at Lucky, Paddy O’Prado, Devil May Care, Evening Jewel, Gio Ponti and Zenyatta.
