By Dana Byerly, Hello Race Fans Co-founder

Are you planning on attending Night School tonight? Tonight’s topic is handicapping for class and we have some content to help you prepare.

Class as it pertains to horse racing can mean many things, whether it’s the level of the race or quality of the horse. Races are categorized by conditions such as a graded stakes (the highest class) to a claiming race (the lowest class). We have an overview of conditions that explains each type of race and shows you examples of how it will be listed in a race program.

Class as it pertains to a horse is a much more subjective matter and something we’re sure you’ll spend a lot time discussing in Night School. We have an Introduction to Class that dives deeper into race conditions and helps you figure out how to determine the essential question of class, “does the horse fit?”.
