It was a relatively quiet weekend as the non-stop pace of the summer slowly transitioned to fall.

Like all good things, summer racing comes to an end with the conclusion of Saratoga on Monday and Del Mar on Wednesday. Summer potential turns into fall preparation, bringing some of the best racing of the year across all divisions as eyes, and hopes, turn to the Breeders’ Cup in November.

It was a wild weekend with plenty of upsets, several clunkers and a few fabulous comebacks.

Despite first being run in 1991, this race is one of the top races for older runners in California, producing four California Horses of the Year.

Much of this weekend was focused on 3-year-old fillies as three validated prior good form, one stepped up, one got stuck in traffic and one made it 22 in a row!

Another weekend, another two days of racing on national television as horses duked it out across divisions.

There was plenty of racing across multiple divisions this weekend, but perhaps the biggest story was that thoroughbred horse racing was nationally broadcast both days of the weekend.

Summer swung into high gear as the two premier summer boutique meets opened and we caught a glimpse of a couple of potential future stars.

It was a mixed bag of performances with everything from the workmanlike to the break-out, with an emphasis on juveniles. And, we’re proud to announce our first theme month: September is Figs Gone Wild Month!
