Week of June 7, 2010The Triple Crown is over but racing is not
By Dana Byerly, Hello Race Fans Co-founder
Congratulation to Drosselmeyer and his connections! The whirlwind known as the Triple Crown has come to end for another year. Three race, three different winners. How will this crop fare as the year continues? We hope you’ll stick around to find out! In the meantime there’s plenty of other racing to pay attention to.
The Bet Fair Acorn Stakes on Saturday’s Belmont card kicked off the Triple Tiara for 3-year-old fillies. Find out about the illustrious history of the series before the next race.
2010 Triple Tiara Schedule
Acorn Stakes – June 5 – Belmont Park
Coaching Club American Oaks – July 24 – Saratoga
Alabama Stakes – August 21 – Saratoga
If you missed any of the stakes action on the Belmont card, you can catch all the replays and grab a results chart at our Belmont Card Picks page.
This week will be a little slow in the publishing department while we take some time to do a little maintenance. The Belmont Card Picks page marked our 100th post and since it’s highly unlikely that you’ve read all 100 posts, take a look around! Perhaps our Letters to Horse Player series is a good starting point or check out some of our book reviews (more coming soon!).
Also, we’ll start including the upcoming stakes races for the week so you’ll be able to plan ahead. You can check Horse Racing Nation’s handy Stakes Tracker to find out who’s a probable starter for any of the races.
Next weekend’s races will be just as, if not more, exciting than this week’s with Zenyatta in the Vanity and Rachel Alexandra starting in either the Stephen Foster, Fleur De Lis, Ogden Phipps or the Obeah. Also notable this week, General Quarters will try to join Lava Man as the only other horse to win a Grade 1 on all three surfaces when he tries for a Grade 1 on dirt in the Stephen Foster. Einstein tried twice to get his Grade 1 on dirt in this race twice and ran in the money both times but did not win.
